Graduate School Coordinator
Michael Toplis is director of research at CNRS and director of the Midi-Pyrénées Observatory (OMP). He coordinates the research center of the University of Toulouse “Univers Planète Espace Environment” (UPEE).
His field of research covers Earth Sciences and Planetology, as well as research on industrial glass and radioactive waste management. He is the author of more than 120 articles published in peer-reviewed journals and has supervised or co-supervised 15 doctoral students and 45 master’s students. He is or has been associate editor of several major scientific journals since 2002.
Associate coordinator for Master studies
Stéphanie Duchêne is Professor in Goelogy at Paul Sabatier University. She carries out her research at the GET laboratory (Géosciences Environnement Toulouse).
Her research activity focuses on the thermal, dynamic, metamorphism and magmatism evolution of orogenic systems in different regions of interest (Pyrenees, Andes in Chile, Norway, Alps …). She is author or co-author of 40 articles in peer-reviewed journals, she has supervised or co-supervised about ten PhD students and more than 15 Master students for their Master thesis. In the past, she has coordinated several teaching courses at Master’s level (M1 SVT-teaching and preparation for SVT secondary school examinations, M2 “Earth and Planets”).
Associate coordinator for Doctoral studies
Geneviève Soucail is an Astronomer at Observatoire Midi-Pyrénées. She is presently the director of the Doctoral School “Sciences de l’Univers, de l’Environnement et de l’Espace” (SDU2E).
Her research activities focuses on observational cosmology, gravitational lens effects and galaxy clusters. She has published more than 90 articles in peer-reviewed journals and has supervised or co-supervised about ten PhD students. She has been very involved in teaching at Master’s level for many years and she was in charge of the M2 “Astrophysics, Space Sciences, Planetology” for 8 years.
